Holiday Park Campground, MD
Wednesday, November 8, 2000 - 7:00am by Lolo
227 miles and 4 hours from our last stop - 4 night stay
Travelogue
The Holiday Park Campground was a perfect base camp for our exploration of the Chesapeake area. Everything we wanted to see was within an hour or so drive from the campground. Also, the campground was quite lovely—set in the woods along the Choptank River.
However, we never really got to see much of the campground since we were pretty much on the go, leaving early in the morning and not returning until after dark. Despite that, the boys insisted on getting a site near the playground that featured a very large robot slide—a decision they soon came to regret. Every time they looked out the window, this humongous stupid robot face would be staring back in at them. Pretty creepy!
The boys are quite enthusiastic mini golfers, so one morning before heading out on our day’s adventure, we stopped to let them play on the campground mini golf course. In fact, we all played and as usual the competition got a bit intense. I must say that for a campground mini golf course, this was a particularly good one.
Description
The Holiday Park Campground is located on 200 acres along the picturesque headwaters of the Choptank River, in the heart of the Delmarva Peninsula. It has 200 spacious wooded sites, some of them along the river, with electric and water hookups. Recreational facilities include a large swimming pool, four playgrounds, a tennis court, shuffleboard, horseshoes, mini golf, basketball, volleyball, a game room, and hiking and nature trails.
