80 mile drive across the barrier islands that make up the Cape Hattaras National Seashore. The 4 1/2 hour drive takes you thorugh a wildlife refuge and pleasant villagees, past sandy beaches and lighthouses. For most of the drive there are views of the Atlantic Ocean to the east and Pamlico Sound to the west.
